Wood Buffalo RCMP are investigating a possible abduction that may have been witnessed in Abasand near Athabasca Avenue earlier this week.

Wood Buffalo RCMP say that at around 7 p.m. on Nov. 6, a witness saw an unknown female jump from a vehicle and run into the field behind the Abasand Esso and Father Beauregard School. The driver of the vehicle, described as a black Jeep, drove onto the field. One or two people from the vehicle got out and grabbed the unknown female, then left the area. The jeep was last seen leaving the area heading northbound.
Officers and police dog services responded to the area but could not find the vehicle or its occupants. Wood Buffalo RCMP and the RCMP Forensic Identification Section are investigating the incident.
Witness descriptions provided to police are vague. Surveillance footage could not identify the license plate. The driver has been described as a white man with silver, scruffy hair. The unknown female was described as wearing a grey sweater.
